About OTPlus

Who is OTPlus

OTPlus provides Occupational Therapy Consulting services to clients in the Greater Puget Sound area, including home modification, client function and safety assessments, design and building accessibility consultation, and ergonomic job site assessments, to increase client function, independence, and safety. Our Occupational Therapists providing these services draw from their decades of healthcare experience and professional evaluation skills in the arenas of physical disability, aging, psychosocial adjustment, home safety, activity analysis, and injury prevention.

Our Philosophy

OTPlus is anchored in wellness and prevention as a foundation for Occupational Therapy. Our goal is to reduce an individual’s functional limitations and elevate their strengths through adaptation of tasks, environmental modifications, and advocacy.

Who We Work With

OTPlus consults with professionals such as elder law attorneys, financial advisors, medical case managers and discharge planners for care planning, and building and design professionals who are interested in assisting their clients with aging in place and client specific accessibility. In addition, our Occupational Therapists that specialize in office ergonomics provide services to businesses and human resource departments for employee education, and jobsite assessments and recommendations.

OTPlus will also work directly with private clients who seek services to remain safe and as independent as possible in their environment throughout the different stages of life.

We do not contract with, nor do we bill insurance. This approach allows us to focus on prevention, wellness, and health promotion versus providing services within the traditional medical model of disease, illness, or injury.

“Strong evidence supports the efficacy of home modifications as an effective prevention treatment for reducing the rate and risk of falls among older adults, especially when delivered by occupational therapists.”

Natalie Anderson, OTR/L, MA

Natalie Anderson has enjoyed a 30-year career in the Puget Sound region in healthcare management and as an Occupational Therapist. Her experience spans all continuums of the healthcare setting including acute care hospital settings, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, and the home health setting. Natalie’s career has shaped her services for individuals with neurological diagnoses, such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke, and individuals with functional deficits as a result of a chronic disease or musculoskeletal disorders such as back pain. As an occupational therapist, her education and training is centered on providing resources and interventions for productive aging and provides a unique perspective for those who want to remain in their home as they age. She understands and enjoys collaboration with building and design professionals and geriatric case managers to assist individuals to make intelligent decisions about safe independent living before a crisis occurs. “It’s not a good day assisting a spouse with the homecoming of their partner to a hospital bed in the family room and piece of plywood up the front steps because of an unexpected medical event.” The demographics of our communities continue to age and overwhelmingly clients want to remain in their homes as long as feasibly possible. Thus, her motivation for founding OTPlus.

Natalie is very excited about the possibilities and opportunities with OTPlus to continue her work outside the healthcare environment providing clients insight, knowledge, and solutions for function and independence with daily living.

“The number of people 65 years and older is expected to rise by 101% between 2000 and 2030… over that same period the number of family members who are available to provide care for these older adults is expected to increase by only 25%.”

— Mack & Thompson, Data Profiles, Family Caregivers of Older Persons: Adult Children, 2001
